brios e560ee4cc4 chore(deps): update junrar dependency to version 8.0.0 (#7210) 
# Description of Changes

Since this was a major version update i tested manually, afterwards
figured i'll submit as PR.

This version of junrar adds long-awaited (by me) RAR 5 support to the
library. RAR 5 is newest version of the RAR file format and was not
available in previous Junrar version, but is somewhat common for CBR
files to be RAR 5.

* Adds a `windows-11-arm` CI/release leg (NSIS, Microsoft JDK 25,
updater keys); JPDFium natives deliberately excluded
(`jpdfiumPlatforms=none`) until published, so don't ship ARM64
installers to users yet
* Defaults `WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1` on Linux (crash switching
tools on NVIDIA)
* Strips the bundled libwayland from AppImages (blank window on Fedora
Wayland)
* Blocks off-app webview navigation + window drop guard + close failsafe
(drag-drop bricks the app)
* 120s startup grace before the backend is declared unhealthy, restart
success only announced after a real health check ("Backend stopped
unexpectedly" spam and likely the OAuth port churn)
* Verified: green `windows-arm64` build (234 MB NSIS artifact) and green

LudyandCopilot bb830e5711 build: upgrade google-java-format and restore strict Spotless validation (#7091) 
# Description of Changes

- Upgraded google-java-format from 1.28.0 to 1.35.0.
- Removed the broad `suppressLintsFor` workaround for the
`google-java-format` step.
- Ensured the shared `gradle/spotless.gradle` configuration is
recognized by the relevant CI path filters and repository automation.
- Kept the shared formatter configuration available to all backend
modules.
- Verified that google-java-format 1.35.0 runs successfully on JDK 25
for the Common, Core, and SaaS modules.
- Confirmed that the previous claim about a general Guava 32.x crash on
JDK 24/25 no longer justifies suppressing all formatter lint failures.

### Verification

Verified with Temurin JDK 25.0.3 and google-java-format 1.35.0. The
formatter still depends on Guava 32.1.3-jre, and no `suppressLintsFor`
configuration is present.

# Description of Changes

This change centralizes several dependency version declarations into
shared Gradle version properties and updates module build files to
reference those properties instead of hardcoded version strings.

### What was changed

- Added centralized version properties in the root `build.gradle` for:
  - commons-io
  - commons-lang3
  - rhino
  - okhttp BOM
  - gson
  - guava
  - bucket4j
  - archunit
  - batik
  - jpdfium
  - JWT
  - AWS SDK
  - Testcontainers

- Replaced hardcoded dependency versions across multiple modules with
shared version variables.
- Updated `resolutionStrategy.force` declarations to use centralized
version properties.
- Updated dependency constraints and BOM references to use shared
version variables.
- Removed module-specific duplicate version declarations from
`app/proprietary/build.gradle`.
- Standardized dependency declarations across `common`, `core`,
`proprietary`, and `saas` modules.

## Why the change was made

- Reduce duplication of dependency version definitions.
- Simplify future dependency upgrades and maintenance.
- Ensure consistent dependency versions across all modules.

Currently, it's not possible to develop the backend on Mac without
manually signing the JPDFium binaries yourself since macOS will reject
running the unsigned binaries. [We've now updated JPDFium to sign the
Mac binaries in
v1.0.2](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/JPDFium/releases/tag/v1.0.2),
so update to use that version.

## Summary

Migrates `SplitPDFController`, `SplitPdfByChaptersController`,
`SplitPdfBySizeController` from PDFBox to JPDFium.
`SplitPdfBySectionsController` and `AutoSplitPdfController` are
intentionally left on PDFBox (require JPDFium 1.0.2 features that don't
exist yet).

## Benchmark (audited on `audit/jpdfium-split`, file
`app/core/src/test/java/stirling/software/SPDF/bench/SplitBenchmark.java`)

## Hybrid

- AcroForm-bearing splits keep PDFBox
`FormUtils.pruneOrphanedFormFields` post-pass (FPDF_ImportPagesByIndex
drops AcroForm dict). Sub-bench shows +1.0 MB / +27 ms - tightly
bounded.
- Metadata extraction stays on PDFBox.
- `SplitPdfBySectionsController` - JPDFium `PdfPageSplitter` only does
2-up halving, not arbitrary MxN.
- `AutoSplitPdfController` - needs PDFRenderer + zxing for QR markers.

## Test plan

- [ ] 30/30 unit tests pass with PDFBox `Loader.loadPDF` as the oracle
(assert page counts + document totals)

James Brunton 688f7f2013 Add streaming to Engine orchestrator (#6094) 
# Description of Changes
Adds a streaming endpoint to the Java AI orchestrator
(`/api/v1/ai/orchestrate/stream` in addition to the existing
`/api/v1/ai/orchestrate`). This allows the caller to get updates of what
stage of orchestration is being run at the time so UIs can give the user
feedback.

Also contains some dubious Gradle changes to suppress errors coming from
Spotless, when it crashes in Google stuff. I'm not sure if that's
appropriate to add, feel free to ask for changes in review.

This PR performs a broad cleanup and refactor across the security, SSO,
and dependency layers to improve correctness, maintainability, and
robustness.

- **SSO / Authentication cleanup**
- Removed deprecated and ambiguous `SSO` authentication handling in
favor of explicit `OAUTH2` and `SAML2`.
- Introduced a centralized helper (`isSsoAuthenticationTypeByUsername`)
to consistently detect SSO-backed users.
- Hardened user creation logic to strictly validate authentication types
and reject invalid values.
- Updated OAuth2 and SAML2 authentication success handlers to use
unified SSO detection logic and clearer control flow.
  - Adjusted tests to reflect the new canonical authentication types.

- **Security & robustness improvements**
- Replaced direct `new URL(...)` usage with `URI.create(...).toURL()` to

# Description of Changes


Note on Simple Java Mail:
- SJM contains Angus/Jakarta Mail in it.
- SJM is a very thin layer on Angus Mail; see here:
https://github.com/bbottema/simple-java-mail
- SJM gives high level methods to more reliably parse in email via Angus
Mail, but also contains lots of other interesting features.
- SJM is Apache 2 licensed

This pull request updates the email processing utilities to add support
for parsing and validating Outlook MSG files, refactors the
`EmlProcessingUtils` utility class to use instance methods and improved
resource management, and enhances the handling and styling of generated
email HTML. The changes also introduce external CSS resource loading
with a fallback mechanism, and update dependencies to support MSG file
parsing.

**MSG file support and validation:**
- Added `simple-java-mail` and `outlook-module` dependencies to enable
EML and MSG file parsing, and updated validation logic to recognize and
accept MSG files by checking their magic bytes.

**Refactoring and modernization of `EmlProcessingUtils`:**
- Converted static methods and fields in `EmlProcessingUtils` to
instance methods/fields, improving testability and future extensibility.

- Updated HTML generation to use consistent formatting and improved
style variable usage, and refactored CSS injection to load from an

- Improved the formatting of meta-information (e.g., CC, BCC, Date) and

Balázs Szücs 91bf9abbaa refactor(pdf): improve resource management, memory usage, and exception safety across controllers and utilities (#5379) 
# Description of Changes

This PR fixes resource leaks and memory issues in PDF processing by
implementing proper resource management patterns throughout the
codebase.

## Key Changes

### Resource Leak Prevention
All PDDocument and PDPageContentStream objects now use
try-with-resources to ensure proper cleanup. Previously, resources could
remain open if exceptions occurred, leading to file handle exhaustion
and memory leaks.

### Memory Optimization
Added `setSubsamplingAllowed(true)` to all PDFRenderer instances. This
reduces memory consumption by 50-75% during PDF-to-image operations and
prevents OutOfMemoryError on large files.

**Affected**: OCRController, CropController, FlattenController,
FormUtils, and 6 other files

### Large File Handling
Replaced in-memory processing with temp file approach for operations on
large PDFs. This prevents loading entire documents into memory.

**Example (GetInfoOnPDF.java):**
- Before: Loaded entire PDF into ByteArrayOutputStream
- After: Saves to temp file, streams from disk, cleans up in finally
block

**Also changed**: PrintFileController, SplitPdfBySizeController

### PDPageContentStream Construction
Standardized constructor calls with explicit parameters:
- AppendMode: Controls content placement
- compress: true for stream compression
- resetContext: true for clean graphics state

This prevents graphics state corruption and provides better control over
rendering.

### Exception Handling
- Added NoSuchFileException handling for temp file issues
- Check if response is committed before sending error responses
- Better error messages for temp file cleanup failures

### Code Quality
- Replaced loops with IntStream where appropriate
(SplitPdfBySectionsController)
- Updated deprecated API usage (PDAnnotationTextMarkup →
PDAnnotationHighlight)
- Added null checks in Type3FontLibrary
- Removed redundant document.close() calls

### Dependencies
Added `org.apache.pdfbox:pdfbox-io` dependency for proper I/O handling.

# Description of Changes

This pull request adds support for converting CBR (Comic Book RAR) files
to PDF, optimizes CBZ/CBR-to-PDF conversion for e-readers using
Ghostscript, and improves file type detection and image file handling.
It introduces the `CbrUtils` and `PdfToCbrUtils` utility classes,
refactors CBZ conversion logic, and integrates these features into the
API controller. The most important changes are grouped below.

### CBR Support and Conversion:

- Added the `com.github.junrar:junrar` dependency to support RAR/CBR
archive extraction in `build.gradle`. (https://github.com/junrar/junrar
and https://github.com/junrar/junrar?tab=License-1-ov-file#readme for
repo and license)
- Introduced the new utility class `CbrUtils` for converting CBR files
to PDF, including image extraction, sorting, and error handling.
- Added the `PdfToCbrUtils` utility class to convert PDF files into CBR
archives by rendering each page as an image and packaging them.

### CBZ/CBR Conversion Optimization:

- Refactored `CbzUtils.convertCbzToPdf` to support optional Ghostscript
optimization for e-reader compatibility and added a new method for this.
- Added `GeneralUtils.optimizePdfWithGhostscript`, which uses
Ghostscript to optimize PDFs for e-readers, and integrated error
handling.

### API Controller Integration:

- Updated `ConvertImgPDFController` to support CBR conversion, CBZ/CBR

Ludy 9e0f6dd2e1 style(spotless): centralize and expand formatting config in root build.gradle (#4098) 
# Description of Changes

- Removed redundant `spotless` configurations from `app/common`,
`app/core`, and `app/proprietary` modules.
- Consolidated all formatting logic into the root `build.gradle` file.
- Extended Spotless support to include:
  - YAML files (`*.yml`, `*.yaml`)
  - Gradle scripts (`*.gradle`, including nested `app/**/*.gradle`)
- Updated `googleJavaFormatVersion` from `1.27.0` to `1.28.0`.

This change improves maintainability by enforcing consistent formatting
across all modules from a single location. Additionally, it ensures
formatting is applied to Gradle and YAML files, which were previously
unformatted.

Ludy a5d219ed05 chore(pre-commit): enable test source formatting and build validation on push to main (#4067) 
# Description of Changes

This PR improves the pre-commit workflow and formatting configuration to
enforce consistency and catch issues earlier in CI:

- **Pre-commit workflow (`pre_commit.yml`)**:
- Trigger now runs on `push` to `main` (previously scheduled weekly
only).
- Adds a `gradlew clean build` step to ensure the codebase compiles as
part of the pre-commit validation.
- Configures Java 17 using the Temurin distribution via
`actions/setup-java`.

- **.pre-commit-config.yaml**:
  - Updated `ruff` to version `v0.12.7` (from `v0.12.0`).
  - Updated `gitleaks` to `v8.28.0` (from `v8.27.2`).

- **Spotless configuration**:
- Added formatting for `test` sources across all Gradle modules
(`common`, `core`, `proprietary`, `stirling-pdf`).
- Ensures that test code follows the same formatting rules as production
code.

These changes help improve early feedback in development and CI by
integrating linting, formatting, and build checks directly into the
workflow on code pushes.

Ludy 299d52c517 refactor: move modules under app/ directory and update file paths (#3938) 
# Description of Changes

- **What was changed:**  
- Renamed top-level directories: `stirling-pdf` → `app/core`, `common` →
`app/common`, `proprietary` → `app/proprietary`.
- Updated all path references in `.gitattributes`, GitHub workflows
(`.github/workflows/*`), scripts (`.github/scripts/*`), `.gitignore`,
Dockerfiles, license files, and template settings to reflect the new
structure.
- Added a new CI job `check-generateOpenApiDocs` to generate and upload
OpenAPI documentation.
- Removed redundant `@Autowired` annotations from `TempFileShutdownHook`
and `UnlockPDFFormsController`.
- Minor formatting and comment adjustments in YAML templates and
resource files.

- **Why the change was made:**  
- To introduce a clear `app/` directory hierarchy for core, common, and
proprietary modules, improving organization and maintainability.
- To ensure continuous integration and Docker builds continue to work
seamlessly with the reorganized structure.
- To automate OpenAPI documentation generation as part of the CI
pipeline.
