Ludy 6d5d651432 chore(vscode): expand Java resource filters for workspace indexing (#7404)
Expand and reorganize java.project.resourceFilters in
.vscode/settings.json. Adds cache/build/bin/logs/storage exclusions
(app/core, app/common, app/proprietary, app/saas), frontend/engine,
docker and other generated/temp paths; removes duplicates and reorders
entries to reduce Java indexing of generated files and improve IDE
performance.

Ludy ea8fc5ae52 chore: configure repository editor settings (#7411)
## Description

Moves the repository-wide VS Code settings out of PR #7386 into a
dedicated pull request.

## Changes

- Configure Ruff for Python files and point it at the engine project
configuration.
- Add repository-root paths for stylelint and CSS/SCSS/Less at-rule
handling.
- Enable Oxc safe fixes on save for JavaScript and TypeScript files.
- Add Even Better TOML formatter settings for the repository's TOML
files.

This keeps PR #7386 focused on the Python tooling migration while
preserving the editor configuration as a separately reviewable change.

## Validation

- Exact file diff matches the settings change from PR #7386.
- `task pre-commit:whitespace` was attempted; it is currently blocked by
pre-existing whitespace issues in
`engine/src/stirling/models/tool_io.py` and
`engine/src/stirling/models/tool_models.py`.

05eb74022a chore(ci): migrate Python tooling to uv and standardize workflow execution (#7386)
# Description of Changes

This PR modernizes the project's Python tooling across GitHub Actions by
migrating CI workflows from pip-based dependency management to `uv` and
aligning Python execution with the engine project's managed environment.

### What was changed

- Replaced `actions/setup-python` and ad-hoc `pip install` steps with
`astral-sh/setup-uv` across CI workflows.
- Configured shared `uv` dependency caching using
`engine/pyproject.toml` and `engine/uv.lock`.
- Updated Python script execution to use `uv run --project engine
--locked` for a consistent runtime environment.
- Replaced package installation steps with `uv sync` for the required
dependency groups (e.g. `tools` and `cucumber`).
- Added Docker image build validation for both production and
development AI engine images.
- Updated workflow cache configuration and Docker build context where
required.
- Removed obsolete Python requirements files that are no longer needed
after the migration.
- Applied minor Python code modernizations, including import cleanup,
modern built-in generic type annotations (`list[...]`, `tuple[...]`,
`float | None`), and small style improvements.
- Removed unnecessary Python formatter/linter extensions from the
development container configuration.

### Why the change was made

- Standardize Python dependency management across the repository.
- Reduce duplicated dependency installation logic in CI.
- Improve workflow performance through shared dependency caching.
- Ensure all Python utilities execute against the same locked dependency
set managed by the engine project.
- Simplify long-term maintenance by eliminating legacy requirements
files and pip-specific workflow steps.

James Brunton 37a48aa7a7 Replace ESLint and dpdm with Oxlint (#7330)
# Description of Changes
Smaller scope than #6689 to try and get this finished.

Replace ESLint and dpdm with Oxlint, a TS linter written in Rust so its
performance is dramatically better than the existing tools we use.

## Speed improvement
- Current ESLint run: 13.76s
- Current dpdm run: 3.59s
- Total time: 17.35s
- New Oxlint run: 0.90s

So Oxlint is about a 20x speed improvement.

## Differences
When I last tried to do this, we could recreate our rules identically
with Oxlint, but that's not true any more. Oxlint has no current
equivalent for ESLint's `no-restricted-syntax` rule, which we were using
to ban usages of `<button>` and stuff in specific components to try and
encourage them to use our shared UI. This is a very recent addition to
our linting config, and personally I'm willing to drop it for now at
least. We can still ban specific imports in files, so the files which we
were trying to enforce shared UI will still ban directly importing
Mantine, so that'll probably be most of the cases still caught, but I
think there are other ways we can encourage using the shared UI beyond
just using the linter for it.

I did try building a custom TS rule for it and it only slowed it down a
tiny bit (it took 1.1s) but it had to be built on an unreleased alpha
API which just sounds like a maintenance headache we don't need to deal
with for a rule that we don't really need.

Ludy d4fda73e01 chore(vscode): replace deprecated Copilot extension with Copilot Chat (#5662)
# Description of Changes

- **What was changed**
Updated `.vscode/extensions.json` to replace the deprecated
`GitHub.copilot` extension with `GitHub.copilot-chat`.

- **Why the change was made**
The original GitHub Copilot extension is deprecated. Using the Copilot
Chat extension ensures continued support, compatibility with current
GitHub tooling, and access to the recommended Copilot experience in VS
Code.

11d23a2d43 V2 Auto rename (#4244)
# Description of Changes

This pull request introduces the new "Auto Rename PDF" tool to the
frontend, enabling users to automatically rename PDF files based on
their content. The implementation includes UI components, parameter
handling, operation logic, localization, and enhancements to the file
response utilities to support backend-provided filenames. Below are the
most important changes grouped by theme:

**Feature: Auto Rename PDF Tool**

- Added the main `AutoRename` tool component (`AutoRename.tsx`) and
registered it in the tool registry, enabling selection and execution of
the auto-rename operation in the UI.

James Brunton 295e682e03 Add linting to frontend (#4341)
# Description of Changes
There's no current linter running over our TypeScript code, which means
we've got a bunch of dead code and other code smells around with nothing
notifying us. This PR adds ESLint with the typescript-eslint plugin and
enables the recommended settings as a starting point for us.

I've disabled all of the failing rules for the scope of this PR, just to
get linting running without causing a massive diff. I'll follow up with
future PRs that enable the failing rules one by one.

Also updates our version of TypeScript, which introduces a new type
error in the code (which I've had to fix)

Ludy b6ff1dd7f6 chore: update development configs, formatting tools, and CI enhancements (#4130)
# Description of Changes

- **What was changed**
- Bumped `java.format.settings.google.version` to **1.28.0** in
`.devcontainer/devcontainer.json` and `.vscode/settings.json`.
- Expanded ignore patterns in `.devcontainer/devcontainer.json` to cover
`app/core/`, `app/common/`, `app/proprietary/` directories.
- Added a new top‐level `.dockerignore` to exclude build artifacts,
virtual environments, logs, OS files, and markdown docs.
- Consolidated EditorConfig YAML globs into `*.{yml, yaml}` to remove
duplication.
- Fixed missing newline in `.github/config/.files.yaml` and added label
metadata (`from_name`/`description`) in `.github/labels.yml`.
  - Updated `build.gradle`:
- Introduced `junitPlatformVersion = "1.12.2"` and replaced hard-coded
launcher versions.
- Applied the `jacoco` plugin across all subprojects and configured
`jacocoTestReport` (XML + HTML).
    - Wire-up `jacocoTestReport` to run after tests.
- **Why the change was made**
- Ensure all formatting tools (Google Java Format) stay in sync across
editors and containers.
- Clean up ignore rules to prevent build artifacts and sensitive files
from creeping into images and repos.
- Improve CI visibility by generating code-coverage reports with JaCoCo.
- Keep GitHub configuration files well-formed and enrich label
definitions for automation.

Ludy 142dba185c chore: Improve VSCode Java Project Configuration with Explicit Source Paths (#3699)
# Description of Changes

- **What was changed**:
Added `"java.project.sourcePaths"` configuration to
`.vscode/settings.json` to explicitly define the Java source
directories:
  - `stirling-pdf/src/main/java`
  - `common/src/main/java`
  - `proprietary/src/main/java`

- **Why the change was made**:
Ensures VSCode correctly recognizes all relevant source folders for Java
compilation, navigation, and language features—especially important for
multi-module setups.

# Description of Changes

Please provide a summary of the changes, including:

This PR updates the VSCode settings by making the following changes:

- Changed the value of `editor.wordSegmenterLocales` from `null` to an
empty string (`""`). This adjustment helps to avoid potential issues
with locale detection in the editor.
- Added new Java formatting settings:

Ludy c5cffdcacb VS Code Extensions for Development (#2826)
# Description of Changes

# Introduce Recommended VS Code Extensions for Development

## Summary
This PR introduces a curated list of recommended Visual Studio Code
extensions to enhance the development workflow for Python, Java, and
Spring Boot projects. These extensions provide essential features such
as code formatting, linting, debugging, dependency management, and
remote development support.

## Motivation
Setting up a consistent development environment can be challenging,
especially when working in a team. By providing a predefined list of VS
Code extensions, we ensure that all developers have access to the
necessary tools for an efficient and streamlined workflow. This helps
maintain code quality, improves productivity, and reduces configuration
overhead.

## Benefits
- **Improved Code Quality**: Extensions like `black-formatter`,
`flake8`, and `checkstyle` enforce best coding practices.
- **Enhanced Debugging and Development**: Java and Python-specific
extensions provide powerful debugging, IntelliSense, and dependency
management capabilities.
- **Spring Boot Support**: Tools like `vscode-spring-boot-dashboard` and
`vscode-spring-initializr` streamline Spring Boot application
development.
- **Remote Development Capabilities**: Extensions like
`remote-containers` and `remote-extensionpack` enable seamless
development in containerized and remote environments.
- **Consistency Across Team Members**: Ensures a unified development
experience across all contributors, reducing the time spent on setup and
troubleshooting.

## Changes Introduced
- Added a `.vscode/extensions.json` file containing a list of
recommended VS Code extensions.
- The list includes extensions for:
  - Python development (formatting, linting, debugging)
- Java development (code formatting, debugging, dependency management,
Gradle)
- Spring Boot development (Spring Boot dashboard, Spring Initializr,
etc.)
  - Remote development support (Containers, SSH, WSL)
  - Code spell checking and pre-commit hook management

## How to Use
1. Open VS Code.
2. When prompted, install the recommended extensions.
3. Alternatively, open the command palette (`Ctrl + Shift + P` or `Cmd +
Shift + P` on macOS) and run:

   ```sh
   Extensions: Show Recommended Extensions
   ```

4. Install the required extensions from the list.

## Next Steps
- Developers should install the recommended extensions to take full
advantage of the improvements.
- Optionally, update the list in `.vscode/extensions.json` if new
extensions are required in the future.
